It was a proud moment for B. D. Arya College, where Ms. Arpita and Ms. Kritika were awarded Certificates of Merit in Heartfulness Essay Event 2019 organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission United Nations Information Centre and the Heartfulness Education Trust. Ms. Lalita, Ms. Jasleen and Ms. Shruti Vatts also got the Certificates of Participation in the All India Essay Writing Event 2019.
B. D. Arya College, Jalandhar Cantt., had a proud moment wherein Ms. Riya of MA Dance Sem-II won the first prize in inter-college mega event- “Apeejay-Spark 2020- Taal Se Chaal Mila” held at Apeejay Institute of Management, Technical Campus. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma congratulated Ms .Riya and Madam Ritika, Dept. of Dance and wished them for their future endeavours.
College celebrated Basant Panchmi with great fervour and enthusiasm. The staff and the students worshipped Goddess Saraswati- the epitome of Knowledge and Wisdom, to attain the blessings on the advent of the spring season. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma congratulated everyone on this auspicious occasion and exhorted the students to avoid Chinese threads to save lives.
College inaugurated the Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st December to 15th December 2019 on the theme “Plastic Se Raksha - Swachhta Hi Suraksha “ wherein the students were sensitized about the importance of cleanliness of the surroundings under the ambit of NCC units, 2 Pb Girls Battalion. Under this directive, students enthusiastically shared their views on the topic – “What can I do to clean my city”.
College outshined in Guru Nanak Dev University Zonal Youth festival held from 30th October to 2nd November, 2019 at D.A.V. College, jalandhar. The college bagged First Runner up and All Over Trophy in Division B. The College teams secured prizes as follows, First in Phulkari, Second in Installation and Third in Collage making and Rangoli.
College organized a visit of students to Vajra Veer Vatika wherein the students felt motivated after seeing 3D maps/replicas of various battles and busts of gallant soldiers including PVC and MVC winners of the corps who have served the motherland. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma acknowledged the organizers for such a event as it helps the students to understand past in order to make sense of the present and shape a more humane future.
The students and the staff of B.D. Arya College under the banner of ‘ Joy of Sharing ‘ visited Tyagmurti Acharya Vishwanath Sidh Vridh Ashram, Ladhewali , Jalandhar and spent quality time with the elders, providing them with the much-needed feeling of togetherness and bonding of a family, which makes Diwali special to all. To add to the cheer and joy, woollens and eatables were distributed and snacks were served to all.
Under the ambit of NSS, the students and the NSS volunteers of B.D. Arya College carried out the awareness campaign on say no to crop residue burning in farms at the village Hazara and the neighbouring villages of Jalandhar Cantt. The villagers were told about the impact of crop burning on the air quality and people’s health.
Sixteen cadets of our College attended the Combined Annual Training Camp/ Personality Development and Life Skill (CATC-cum-PDLS)held at LPU, Phagwara from 09th –September-2019 to 19th –September-2019 organized by 2 PB Girls BN NCC. 15 colleges participated with the total strength of 302 cadets. Our cadets participated in various competitions like: Solo Dance, Tug-Of-War, Group Song, Group Dance etc.
According to the results of B.VOC (Media and Communication) Semester -2 declared by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar our student named Sonia Sharma scored 660/800 marks and bagged 1st position in university merit list and got first position in the college. Whereas another student Anjali scored 629/800 and got 2nd position in university merit list as well in the college.
According to the results of M.Com (2nd semester) declared by Guru Nanak dev University, Amritsar, our college student named Tania Arora secured 435/550 and got first position in the college.
According to the results of M.Com (2nd year) declared by Guru Nanak dev University, Amritsar, student of our college named Jasleen kaur scored 1732/2200 marks bagged university distinction and got first position in the college.
According to the results of B.Sc. Medical with Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics ( Semester - 4 ) declared by Guru Nanak dev University, Amritsar. Shikha scored 326/400 marks and bagged university distinction and got first position in the college.
According to the results of B.A. (Semester -2) declared by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Yogita scored 529/800 marks and got first position in the college. Whereas another student Neetu scored 529/800 and got 2nd position in the college.
According to the results of B.Com (Semester -2) declared by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar Ruchika scored 500/700 marks and got first position in the college. Whereas another student Priyanka scored 468/700 and got 2nd position in the college.
College is running Community College in Fashion Designing. The first batch of students have successfully completed the certificate programme NSQI QP 1210 as Assistant Fashion Designing under Skill Sector Council of India. They have been trained to work in the industry and can also work as entrepreneur.

Whereas other student Shilpa Duggal scored 1801/2400 and bagged distinction in university merit list and 2nd position college.
Ms. Santosh Kumari gets gold medal in Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC). Fifteen cadets of B.D. Arya College, Jalandhar Cantt attended the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) held at HMV College from 18th –June-2019 to 27th –June-2019 organized by 2 PB Girls BN NCC. 16 colleges and 08 schools participated with the total strength of 386 cadets.
According to the results of B.Com ( Semester -6 ) declared by Guru Nanak dev University, Amritsar, our college student Navdeep Kaur scored 1601/2100 marks and bagged 17th position in university merit list and got first position in the college.
According to the results of 10+2 Arts declared by Punjab School Education Board, Taranpreet Kaur scored 385/450 marks and got first position in collegiate school. On the occasion, Principal, Dr. Sarita Verma congratulated the student, her parents and the concerned teachers.

According to the results of B.Sc. Fashion Designing (Semester 6) declared by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar ,The student of our college, Ms. Jashanjit Kaur scored 454/500 marks and bagged 4th position in University merit list, and first in college.
The students of B.D. Arya Girls College, Ms. Hema of DCA got distinction in the final GNDU examination held in December 2018, with 78%. Ms. Minkle stood first in the college by getting 69% in BCA Sem-I final examinations conducted by GNDU ASR. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Sarita Verma congratulated the students, the parents and the teachers for this commendable achievement and wished them success for future prospects.
According to the results of M.Com ( Semester -1 ) declared by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, B. D. Arya Girls College student Bindia scored 418/550 marks bagged 1st position in College.
Prayerful homage was paid to the martyrs of Pulwama bomb blast by the Principal, Staff and students and also expressed their condolences to the grieved families.
College was honoured with an Appreciation Award for its outstanding performance in All India Essay Writing Event 2018 organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission, United Nations Information Centre and the Heartfulness Education Trust. College Students bagged 3rd, 4th and 7th positions among the 94000 shortlisted entries of this event at the state level.
Havan Yajna was organised at College to seek the blessings of the Almighty at the start of the New Year and new semester. Pandit Acharya Shri Suresh Shastri ji from Gurudatr Bhawan, Kishanpura performed the Yajna for the welfare of the institution.
Students of PG Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics have been running cafeteria in the College, as part of their entrepreneurial training. This year students have donated the profits earned from cafeteria to the poor students fund in the college. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Sarita Verma appreciated this gesture of the students and encouraged them to enhance their skills as Dieticians and Entrepreneurs with practical experience.
To promote National Integration & Communal Harmony, Guru Nanak Studies centre of our College celebrate the eve of 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji. Principal Dr. (Mrs) Sarita Verma addressed the students and spread the message of harmony and oneness which reminded the message of Guru Nanak Devji.
Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt celebrated Van Mahotsav with a tree plantation drive under ‘Go- Green Campaign’ wherein the students took a pledge to save and care for the plants in the campus after planting them. On this occasion Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Sarita Verma encouraged students to preserve trees which play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance.
The NSS Unit of College observed ‘SWACHHTA HI SEVA’ to celebrate 150TH birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation. The unit organized various activities under ‘Swachh Bharat Internship programme. NSS volunteers organized awareness campaigns of sanitation practices like using a toilet, hand washing, health and hygiene in the neighbouring areas of R.I. Bazar. An awareness rally was also conducted with placards showing slogans of cleanliness.
To commemorate ‘ Parakram Parv’ on the eve of 2016 Surgical Stike Anniversary, 252 CEDU and 267 Engineers organized an exhibition at Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt, displaying various types of IED devices, counter equipment measure, detection equipments, infantry weapons, small arms, light machine guns, chemical-biological-radiological nuclear warfare suit, 815 TATRA Transport Vehicle and Heavy recovery Vehicle ( HRV AB 15).
The installation ceremony of Rotaract Club of B. D. Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt, was organized under the ambit of Rotary Club of Jalandhar. P.D.G.Rtn. K.C.Kalra was the Chief Guest and the installation officer, who exhorted the elected members to attend the club meetings actively and be an inspiration for others in tackling the humanitarian challenges.
Nutrition Month is being commemorated in College. Dr Raman Chawla, cardiologist addressed the students and staff on this occasion and gave a very informative talk on proper diet, physical activity and positivity to have a happy and disease free life. Dr. Chawla gave practical demonstration on CPR a lifesaving process. The principle of ABC should be followed ie. Airway, Breath and Circulation respectively to restore the blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest.
Eight NCC Cadets of Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College Jalandhar Cantt have cleared ‘C’ Certificate. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma congratulated the students and encouraged them to join Armed forces as commissioned officers.
To celebrate the festival of Rakhi, the students of our college, tied the sacred thread ‘Rakhis’- the bond of love, to more than 250 Jawans and Police Personnel’s and prayed for their good health and longevity. On this occasion, Panditji familiarized with the customs and rituals followed on this festival and the significance of Raksha Bandhan. Thereafter, the sweets and chocolates were shared to mark the celebration of fellow feelings and concern.
Brig. HMS Chatwal and Colonel Jasbir singh interacted with the NCC cadets of Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College Jalandhar Cantt. He inspired the girls to join NCC, become disciplined and contribute in nation building. He also motivated the students to maintain a distance from the drugs. Principal Dr.Sarita Verma thanked Brig. Chatwal and Colonel Jasbir singh and motivated the cadets to join defence forces as commissioned lady officers.
The Wall Magazine on the theme of Independence Day was displayed at our College highlighting the freedom fighters their valuable sayings, the dedicated soldiers, poems and the posters created by students.
Student of Diploma in Stitching and Tailoring Harpreet Kaur secured 429/500 marks. She got distinction in University and first position in the College. College Principal Dr. Sarita Verma congratulated the student and concerned teachers.
College organized a Felicitation Ceremony where as many as twenty five students were honoured excelling academically in the May 2018, GNDU examinations. The NCC units of Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt, paid homage to the martyrs of Kargil Vijay Diwas in the college premises and also participated in the function organized by Vajra Shaurya Sthal (HQ 11 Corps). Ms.Neelam, 10+2 Non-Medical, of Banarsi Dass Arya Girls Collegiate School, Jalandhar Cantt, has brought laurels to the parents, the institute and Punjab by bagging the title of ‘Miss Punjab-2018’ Dellywood. Out of 2500 participants, she was placed among the top 5 for the title of ‘Miss India’ and will be leaving for Dubai shortly for her titles of ‘Miss-Femina’ and ‘Miss World’.
The Principal, Dr. Sarita Verma released the book titled ‘Applied And Discrete Mathematics’. This book is written by Ms. Monica Arora, the Head of Department of Mathematics. This book is written for the students of BCA part- I. The Principal congratulated the author and wished her grand success.

15 NCC cadets of Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College attended the CATC Camp organised by 2nd Pb Battalion from 25th June to 4th July 2018 at KMV College. 388 Cadets from different colleges participated in this camp. Our cadets participated in different competitions. Ms. Santosh Kumari and Ms. Mamta got selected for RDC camp. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma congratulated the cadets.

NCC Cadet Ms. Naina of Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College attended the Army Attachment camp held at Military Hospital, Jalandhar from 11th June to 25th June 2018. B.D Arya Girls Collegiate School, organized an educational visit for its new entrants to the library- the storehouse of knowledge, to exhibit its positive impact on the academic achievement and mental recreation of the student. Ms.Riya and Ms.Manpreet of 10+2 Commerce of Collegiate School achieved 1st and 2nd positions in PSEB SSC Examinations conducted in March 2018, by securing 88% and 87.5%. Ms.Diksha and Ms.Tripti of 10+2 Non-Medical got 1st and 2nd positions by securing 79%. Ms. Kusum and Ms.Nandani of 10+2 medical bagged 1st and 2nd positions by securing 71% and 69% . Ms.Priyanka and Ms.Jasleen Kaur of 10+2 Arts procured 1st and 2nd positions by securing 81.7% and 80.5%.

Students celebrated the festival of Baisakhi with great zeal and fervor. The function was started with the recital of Shabad. A bhangra performance was presented by the students of the dance department. College Principal Dr Sarita Verma extended her good wishes to students and the staff. She also said that this festival has cultural importance. Therefore, celebrating such days will promote the culture and defines its traditional importance in society.

Banarsi Dass Arya Girls Collegiate Senior Secondary School organized its annual Prize Distribution Function in which toppers were given prizes for their excellence performance. The function was inaugurated by lightening the lamp and shabad gayan. Expressing her gratitude towards students and their parents Principal Dr Sarita Verma read the annual report of the session 2017-2018.Toppers were given prizes for their remarkable performance.
Students of our College had marched on the International Mother Language Day. The march was conducted as to aware people regarding the importance of Punjabi language. Students express their support by carrying banners and raising slogans. College Principal Dr Sarita Verma also describes the value of the Punjabi language. She also said that one must not forget the mother tongue even if he/she had achieved the big goals.
The winners of All India Essay Writing Event organized by Shri Ram Chandra Mission in collaboration with UNIC for India and Bhutan, and Heartfulness Institute were honoured by the office bearers of the mission in our college. World AIDS Day was commemorated in Banarsi Dass Arya Girls College, Jalandhar Cantt. Dr. Ajay Khosla (Retd ) Deputy Director Health was the Resource Person. Dr. Khosla gave very valuable information about the causes and prevention of AIDS and HIV. He interacted with the student and cleared the myths and misconceptions about the disease. Posters on AIDS made by the students were also displayed on the occasion.

Annual Blood Donation Camp was organized in College in collaboration with Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma led the donors by herself donating blood the elixir of life. The students and teachers enthusiastically donated blood. Principal Mam thanked the team from the Health dept. and encouraged the students to participate in the noble cause as one unit of the blood can save three lives and this effort can help many patients who are in dire need.

Students of our College carried out the cleanliness drive in the nearby colonies under ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’. Students themselves cleaned the parks and lanes of the colony. A door to door awareness campaign was also carried out by the teachers and students of the college on the use of separate bins for dry and wet waste. Principal Dr. Sarita Verma guided the students to develop a sense of belongingness and own the responsibility to make the environment clean, green and healthy.

He explained the changes made in the act from 1956 to 2013 in a very comprehensive and lucid manner. The slogans and posters presented by the students were very meaningful and creative.
